Music of the heavens and hell. Fauré’s setting of paraphrased sacred texts is paired with Bay Area composer Gordon Getty’s cantata, inspired by the canonized Joan of Arc. The work has been performed widely since its 1998 premiere, notably in a 2004 revival in St. George’s Chapel of Windsor Castle.
